This pioneering airport has also gained global recognition as the world's first fully solar-powered airport. Currently, it ranks as the 8th busiest airport in India, with a notable track record.
CIAL's innovative approach has yielded impressive results , including being the only Indian airport to turn a profit during the year following the pandemic. The airport's premium pricing strategy, featuring leading domestic brands within its terminal, has provided a significant financial advantage. This strategy enables Cochin Airport to effectively counter competition and invest in cutting-edge research and development.
In terms of recovery from the pandemic, CIAL has demonstrated resilience, with passenger traffic rebounding to 92% and 100% of pre-Covid levels in FY2023 and H1 FY2024, respectively.
